In Laboratory Scale: Construction of Vessels with Short Diameter by AUT Researchers

Farid Tund Nevis, Ph.D. student of medical engineering in Amirkabir University of Technology (Polytechnic of Tehran), said about his project under the title of ''Construction and characterization of gelatin polyurethane nanostructure scaffolding of carbon nanotubes for use in vascular tissue engineering'', '' in this project, we have been able to design the replacement of vessel which is similar to the arterial vascular structure of the body. The difference of this vessel with artificial vessels is that it has correlation with the surrounding tissue and prevents blood from clotting due to endothelial cells in the body of individuals''.
The researcher of Amirkabir University of Technology expressed, '' these vessels which we have designed have been made in laboratory scale and have been tested in a rabbit, and we have gained good results. These samples are substitute to arteries with less risks (the smaller the diameter of the vessel is, the greater risks the vascular replacement will face in long-run functions).
It should be noted that the supervisor of this design is Dr. Hamid Keshvari as the faculty member of Amirkabir University of Technology.
