Mojtaba Ebrahimian Mashahdi, a graduate of Amirkabir University of Technology and executer of the project “The study of simultaneous application of capacitive deionization (CDI) and UV oxidation for desalination and treating salty waste water” said: “this study aimed to examine the synergy of two processes of CDI and advanced oxidation in order to simultaneously remove salt and organopollutants from the water. It is the first time that this this has been researched in the world. Ultimately this project has managed to remove over 50% of the salt and 70% of organopollutants from water.”
He also indicated “this scheme has the potential to treat waters polluted with salt and organopollutants by spending less energy and money in comparison to current methods and prevent various damages to the environment in near future.”
Supervisors of this project were Dr. Bahram Dabir, Dr. Merhdad Mozaffaria from Amirkabir University of Technology, and Dr. Majid Mohseni from University of British Colombia.
